HINSDALE, Ill. (WLS) -- A former Hinsdale Central High School lacrosse coach is facing charges in connection with allegations of improper conduct with a student from another school district, officials said.
Joliet police arrested 38-year-old Lisle man Alex Buetikofer on Friday evening. He is charged with grooming, solicitation to meet a child, a sexual offense of traveling to meet a minor, and aggravated battery, according to the Kendall County Sheriff's Office.
District 86 Supt. Dr. Michal Lach sent a letter to families this weekend, saying the district became aware of allegations against the now-former assistant boys lacrosse coach on March 18. Those allegations were related to his time as a teacher in a separate Illinois school district.
Lach said District 86 "took all necessary steps to protect our students" and "ceased all association" with Buetikofer on March 19. He was formally fired on March 26.
Lach said District 86 has no information indicating that any of its students are involved, but the district is fully cooperating with law enforcement as they investigate.
Further information was not immediately available.
