Scammers pretending to be FCC employees demand money, personal info
Scammers are pretending to be Federal Communications Commission employees, and they are demanding money and personal information over texts and calls.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Scammers are now pretending to be Federal Communications Commission employees.

They call or text, saying your phone number is under investigation for criminal activity.

The FCC is now saying its employees will never call saying your number is under investigation or send you to "special law enforcement hotline."

They won't demand money, personal information or threaten you with legal action.

So, if you get a text, email or call, don't click and hang up.
