Fever's Clark has eighth tech rescinded, won't be suspended

CHICAGO -- The WNBA quickly rescinded a technical foul against Caitlin Clark on Saturday after the Indiana Fever star received what would have been her eighth of the season during a game against the Chicago Sky.

By league rule, an eighth technical foul would have triggered a one-game suspension. The Fever appealed the technical immediately after their 90-86 win, and the league reversed the call less than two hours after the game.

Clark will now be available to play against the New York Liberty on Tuesday in Indianapolis.

During the third quarter, Clark made contact with an official out of bounds along the baseline. A bump from the defending Natasha Cloud seemed to cause Clark's momentum to carry her into light contact with the official.

Crew chief Maj Forsberg explained after the game -- but before the technical was rescinded -- that the official "deemed that Clark intentionally made contact; therefore, a technical foul was assessed."

Fever coach Stephanie White also was called for a technical foul while arguing the technical against Clark.

"My tech was for saying that's bulls---, even though I heard the F-bomb the whole f---ing game," White said.

White said she thought the technical against Clark was a "bad" call, describing it as "incidental contact when you're flying out of control."

"I thought her teammates should have come up and talked to her about that as well," White said. "I think it's really bad. That s--- happens all the time in a game. Officials have to have some awareness in those moments, and it didn't happen."br/]
