CHICAGO -- Former Chicago Police Superintendent Phil Cline spoke about the two New York City police officers who were gunned down Saturday.

"We're grieving with the NYPD for the losses of the officers. They have our support, they have our prayers, and our condolences to the family, and we'll talk to NYPD to see if there's any way we can help," Cline said.

Cline, who now works with the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, was visiting families of Chicago police officers as part of Operation Santa.

Sunday he and Mr. and Mrs. Claus received a police escort as they delivered gifts to the children of officers killed or seriously hurt in the line of duty.
