HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease that causes hardening of the skin and can also damage your internal organs. It affects approximately 300,000 people in the U.S. There is no known cause or cure for the disease.
June is Scleroderma Awareness Month, and on Sunday, June 22, supporters are coming together for the 12th Annual Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma in north suburban Highland Park.
Stephanie Somers, executive director of the Scleroderma Foundation of Greater Chicago, joined us live from the walk site during our ABC 7 Eyewitness News Sunday Morning to tell us about the event and the cause it supports.
