Body pulled from creek in west suburbs, police say

WEST DUNDEE, Ill. (WLS) -- Officials have identified body pulled from a creek to be a missing Elgin man.

The body was found at about 11 a.m. from the Jelkes Creek near South 8th Street and Boncosky Road in West Dundee.

He was identified as 52-year-old Joseph L. Johnson Jr., of Elgin by the Kane County coroner.

Officials said Johnson had been reported missing by family.

The preliminary cause of death appears to be drowning, pending toxicology results, the Kane County coroner said.
