Motorcyclist injured after crashing into Barrington Hills police car

BARRINGTON HILLS, Ill. (WLS) -- An 18-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured after crashing into a police squad car in Barrington Hills Tuesday night, police said.

The crash occurred at about 11:33 p.m. in the intersection of Old Bartlett Road and Bartlett Road.

Police said the motorcycle was going north on Bartlett Road when the driver lost control, struck a utility pole and crashed into a marked police vehicle.

The 18-year-old motorcycle driver was transported to a hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition, police said.

An officer in the squad car was transported to a hospital, where they were treated and released, police said.

Speed was likely a contributing factor in the crash, police said.
