'Moonlight' opens in Chicago Friday

CHICAGO (WLS) -- There's a new film opening that's getting lots of buzz here and around the country.

"Moonlight" is the powerful and timeless story of human connection and self-discovery. It follows the life of a young black man from childhood to adulthood and the struggles he faces to find his place in the world.

It's based on a play written by MacArthur Genius Grant recipient and member of Steppenwolf Theater Company, Tarell Alvin McCraney.

McCraney and Andre Holland, one of the film's stars, stopped by ABC7 on Thursday to speak about the new film.
