Child shot, killed inside Riverdale home; 3 family members in custody, police say

RIVERDALE, Ill. (WLS) -- A child died after being shot inside a home in the south suburbs Tuesday night, police said.

Riverdale police responded to a home in the 13900-block of South State Street about 6:05 p.m. for a report of a child who had been shot.

When first responders arrived, the child was pronounced dead, police said.

Police did not immediately provide any additional information about the child.

Riverdale police are investigating the shooting as a homicide.

Three family members who were inside the home are in custody, police said.
