CHICAGO (WLS) -- Signal issues disrupted several Metra lines Thursday morning.
Metra said signal issues near Western Avenue were impacting service on the Milwaukee District West, Milwaukee District North and North Central Service trains. Signal issues at Kedzie have disrupted trains on the Union Pacific West line.
ComEd said they had a person checking power in the area of Grand and Western and found an emergency issue. ComEd then had to cut power to one of the lines for a short period time.
The work resulted in a signal tower losing power This is the tower that controls the largest switching network for Metra, including the UP West, Milwaukee West, North, North Central lines and Amtrak.
Metra said they are bringing in portable generators to get train service back running.
Metra said trains are running with delays and speed restrictions.
ComEd said it believes the emergency power repair prevented a larger problem in the near future.
