Investigators determined that a car heading westbound on Touhy Avenue turned left to enter a business on the south side of 5000 Touhy Avenue. That's when a motorcyclist, who was heading eastbound in the center lane, collided with the car's passenger side.

The motorcyclist, a 20-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The medical examiner's office later identified him as Mohammed R. Ali, of Chicago.

Police said the car and its driver remained on scene.

The North Regional Major Crimes Task Force Major Crash Assistance Team is assisting the Skokie Police Department with the investigation.

Police asked anyone with information to call them at 847-982- 5900.

Authorities did not immediately provide further information.
