73-year-old man critically injured, another also hospitalized after South Shore shooting: police

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two men were injured, one critically, in a South Side shooting on Saturday morning, Chicago police said.

Police said the shooting happened in the South Shore neighborhood's 7100-block of South Jeffery Boulevard.

A 23-year-old man who had been shot self-transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition around 11:20 a.m.

Another man, 73, was found on the scene with a gunshot wound to the buttocks. He was taken to the same hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

What led up to the shooting was not immediately clear.

Area One detectives are investigating. Authorities did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
