Suspects attempt crash-and-grab at South Shore gas station, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are investigating an attempted crash-and-grab at a South Shore gas station Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at about 4:48 a.m. in the 7600-block of South Jeffery Boulevard.

Video shows the damage caused by a black SUV that crashed into the gas station. Police said the suspects fled in a second vehicle.

The owner said was working inside when thieves came in. He said this is the third or fourth attempted break in.

Area Two detectives are investigating.
