CHICAGO (WLS) -- Rainbow PUSH announced Thursday that Yusef Jackson, son of the late Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr., had been appointed president and CEO of the organization.
The organization was founded by Rev. Jackson Sr., who died earlier this year.
"I am deeply grateful to my father for his trust, his guidance, and the example he set for all of us," said Yusef D. Jackson. "My father's leadership and legacy have left an indelible mark on our world. I had the profound privilege of working alongside him as he tirelessly advocated for human rights and economic justice for all. His work to educate, register, and mobilize millions of voters helped transform our democracy.
Yusef Jackson had been serving as COO of Rainbow PUSH for the last two years.
"This announcement marks a solemn and pivotal moment for our organization-one that brings both reflection and renewed commitment," said Mrs. Jacqueline Jackson. "Prior to his passing, my husband blessed this leadership transition, entrusting our son, Yusef, to carry forward his life's mission. While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate his enduring legacy. I have complete faith and trust that Yusef, alongside Rainbow PUSH's leadership team, will continue to mobilize communities for justice and carry this work forward with strength and purpose."
