New video released in shooting of Chiefs offensive coordinator's wife
Eric and Mia Bieniemy's son Elijah was arrested in connection with the shooting.
Newly released video shows the chaotic aftermath of the shooting that injured the wife of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, allegedly carried out by the couple's 27-year-old son.
Mia Bieniemy, 57, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting, which occurred at her home in Virginia on July 26, a source told ABC News.
Doorbell camera video obtained by ABC News shows first responders carrying Mia Bieniemy away from her home following the shooting. The video also shows a police officer simultaneously heading toward the home with his rifle drawn.
Mia Bieniemy called 911 after the shooting, Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman told ABC Washington affiliate WJLA on Monday.
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said the Bieniemys' son, Elijah Zion Bieniemy of Ashburn, Virginia, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside of a dwelling in connection with the incident.
According to the criminal complaint, Mia Bieniemy was shot in the left forearm and shoulder with a 22-caliber firearm. She later underwent surgery and a "portion of a projectile" remains in her body.
Elijah Bieniemy is being held without bond at the county adult detention center.
The next scheduled court date for Elijah Bieniemy is a preliminary hearing on Aug. 31, according to WJLA.
Eric and Mia Bieniemy have not publicly commented on the shooting.
The Kansas City Chiefs told ABC News in a statement Monday that the club "is aware of the incident involving Eric Bieniemy's family."
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said in a press conference Monday from the team's training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri, that the team's "thoughts and prayers" are with the Bieniemy family.
"I can't get into details on it, but things happen sometimes, and Eric will work through it," Reid said. "He's got a great support group here, as does his family, as needed, and then we'll just let time take care of it from there."
Reid said Eric Bieniemy is taking time away from the Chiefs' training camp to be with his family.
