The zoo said it happened around 2:30 p.m. when the wild animal keeper was cleaning an enclosure.
Bears Betty and Veronica, who have been at the Bronx Zoo since 1995, are getting temporary new digs at the Central Park Zoo.
Both cubs are male and were born on May 6 to first-time parents. They are on exhibit with their mother in the Himalayan Highlands exhibit.
