CHICAGO (WLS) -- Parents of children with developmental delays are urging the state of Illinois to address the issues within its Early Intervention Program.
This publicly funded program provides therapies to infants and toddlers with disabilities, up to age three.
Studies show early intervention can help children reach critical milestones and improve long-term outcomes.
However, low pay and lack of benefits have driven hundreds of providers out of the program.
As a result, many families are facing longer waiting times for care, and missing out on services they are legally entitled to.
Illinois Answers Project's Meredith Newman joined ABC7 to talk about the call.
