Chicago's skyline to shine yellow for sarcoma cancer awareness

CHICAGO (WLS) -- July is Sarcoma Awareness Month, and for the very first time, Chicago is joining the Sarcoma Foundation of America's Light Up for Sarcoma campaign.

On Friday, the Willis Tower, One and Two Prudential Plaza, the John Hancock Center, and the Wrigley Building will all shine yellow to raise awareness.

The effort is inspired by Deanna Morales, who is fighting the third recurrence of one of the rarest cancers ever documented.

Rather than allowing her diagnosis to define her, Deanna has turned her journey into a citywide movement, bringing national attention to sarcoma awareness and the urgent need for research and support.

Deanna's mother, Cindy Morales, joined ABC7, to talk about her daughter's journey, and this history moment that's making Chicago Proud.
