CHICAGO (WLS) -- For young adults with developmental disabilities in Illinois, graduating from high school can mean losing access to critical support services.

For many, it can take years to secure funding for adult services because of limited resources.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

LifeSpeed Behavioral Support Services is working to bridge that gap.

The organization recently launched CORE, a specialized day program in Forest Park.

At CORE, young adults who have aged out of school-based care work with therapists to build vocational and social skills, fostering greater independence and helping them make productive choices for their future.

LifeSpeed owner Tony Russo and CORE participant Will Schaaf joined ABC7 to discuss on Sunday morning.
