Annual Bowties & Stilettos fundraiser happening next month

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Next month, style meets purpose and community meets celebration.

The Imani Pearls and JCCL Community Development Foundations are hosting their annual Bowties & Stilettos fundraiser.

Proceeds from the event directly supports initiatives that uplift, empower, and invest in Chicago's South Side communities, including Bronzeville, Englewood, and Hyde Park.

Since their founding, the foundations have awarded more than $243,000 in scholarships.

Lenita Gipson, the chairman of Bowties and Stilettos, and DeMarco Hughes, president of the Nu Pi chapter, joined ABC7 to discuss on Saturday morning.
