DePaul: Some female students' phone numbers posted online
CHICAGO -- Someone is asking for phone numbers from female students at DePaul, then posting them online without their permission, the university warned Monday.
"Several" similar incidents have been reported recently at the university's Lincoln Park campus on the North Side, DePaul said in a safety alert.
In each case, men approach female students and engage them in conversation with the explicit purpose of getting their phone numbers, the alert said.
The phone numbers have been posted on a members-only website without the students' permission, the alert said.
Campus police are cautioning students to share personal information only with people they trust. Any student who experiences harassment should get to a safe place quickly and contact campus police, the alert said.
