CHICAGO (WLS) -- More and more women in Chicago are taking on leadership roles in the workplace, according to a census by The Chicago Network - but only at a slight increase in some categories.

The census found that 17.9 percent of director positions in the city - or 95 positions - are held by women, up from 91 in 2013. The percentage of female executive officers increased slightly to 12.5 percent from last year.

However, the number of women top earners fell slightly to 8.2 percent from 2013. And overall, 92 percent of the top earners in the Chicago 50 are male, and only four companies have more than 25 percent of women as top earners. However, that number is up from three in 2013.
