CHICAGO (WLS) -- The day after Christmas is one of the busiest of the year for retailers.

Stores hope to build on the best holiday sales growth in three years, according to the International Council Of Shopping Centers. Sales for this season are expected to show the strongest growth since 2011 due to a stronger economy and cheap gas prices

In Chicago, the Macy's on State Street will open at 6 a.m. The store is one of many opening early on December 26, when millions people hit the stores to make returns, use gift cards and shop after Christmas sales.
