CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago Public Library is kicking off its "Teacher in the Library" program for the new school year.
The program is free and available at all 80 library branches.
There is a fully-accredited teacher available after school so students can get help with their homework.
The group sessions allow students to complete their assignments using strategies so they can do the homework themselves and reinforce what they learned in class.
"We extend ourselves very, very well so they know that we know them by name," Mayor Rahm Emanuel said. "We expect to see them, we encourage them to come, and they feel safe and comfortable in the environment."
Students can also receive live one-on-one online tutoring seven days a week.
That is available on the Chicago Public Library website.
