CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago Air and Water Show, presented by the City of Chicago and Shell Oil Products, may have turned 56, but the event's breathtaking action soared to new heights when ABC 7 presented CHICAGO'S TOP GUNS: A WET AND WILD WEEKEND hosted by ABC 7 meteorologists Jerry Taft and Tracy Butler. Herb Hunter, the voice of the Air and Water show for more than 20 years, join Tracy and Jerry for the broadcast.

This half-hour special will re-air Sunday August 24 at 4:30 PM.

CHICAGO'S TOP GUNS: A WET AND WILD WEEKEND gives viewers a close-up look at this lakefront spectacle, featuring the breathtaking performance of one of this year's headliner, the world famous U. S. Navy Blue Angels. The Angels never cease to amaze and dazzle the crowd with their show of might, speed and precise, supersonic flight maneuvers in their F/A-18 Hornets. The special features highlights of ABC 7 Eyewitness News reporter/contributing anchor Terrell Brown's first trip flying over Chicago with the Blue Angels. Brown said, "I've never had a fear of flying, but the thought of traveling in a jet going 700 miles an hour, is something I've not quite wrapped my mind around just yet!"

All eyes will be on the brave men and woman of the U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights and the U.S. Navy Leap Frogs as they jump out of aircraft 12,500 feet above the earth's surface, racing to North Avenue Beach at speeds exceeding 120 mph all the while managing perfect landings - no sweat at all!

Other Military demonstration teams joining the Blue Angels, Golden Knights and Leap Frogs will be the Marine MV 22 Osprey helicopter and the U.S. Air Force F-22.

ABC 7's CHICAGO'S TOP GUNS capture a wide variety of civilian acts with daredevil pilots performing their aerial stunts high above the Chicago skies. New and returning acts include: AeroShell Aerobatic Team, The Firebirds Delta Team, Chuck Aaron in the Red Bull Helicopter, Matt Chapman Airshows, Dave Dacy in the Super Stearman Model 70, Warbird Heritage Foundation: A-4 Skyhawk Jet Tac Demo, Aerostars,Team AeroDynamix, (new 12 plane team), and Chicago Fire Department Air/Sea Rescue. Also, guaranteed to stun and amaze onlookers, Sean D. Tucker & Team Oracle return to fly daredevil feats of precision at 300 miles per hour.

The Air and Water Show takes place on the lakefront from Fullerton Avenue to Oak Street, with North Avenue Beach as the focal point of the event. The Air and Water Show is one of the largest free admission events of its kind in the United States, attracting more than two million people to Chicago's lakefront.
