CHICAGO (WLS) -- There was a building blitz on Chicago's West Side Thursday for a new playground.

More than 200 volunteers worked to build the new playscape at Providence Saint Mel School in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.

The new playground was based on children's designs and made possible by Morgan Stanley's "Healthy Cities" initiative.

Morgan Stanley says the school has never had a true playground, and many older students came out to help build it for the younger kids.
