The Daley Plaza Farmers Market opens for the first time this season at 7 a.m. An opening ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m., featuring live music by BLT, of the Old Town School of Music, and the Kelly High School Band.

The market will unveil its new reusable bag designed by a Chicago Public Schools student. The theme of this year's design contest was "Our Farms, Your Table."

David Paredes and Elizabeth Sosa, both of Mather High School, and Milena Maniaci of Lincoln Park High School are this year's finalists.

The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship and the two runners-up will each receive a $500 scholarship. The bags will be distributed throughout the season.

The market runs every Thursday from 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. through October 27. Admission is free.
