CHICAGO (WLS) -- A restaurant in Chicago's River North community has its liquor license renewed.

City officials found its application was complete.

Back in April Chicago Police closed down the Nouveau Tavern on a Friday night, claiming its liquor license was not valid because the application was not complete.

The attorney for the restaurant claimed at the time the city did not want an African-American owned restaurant to operate in river north.

The city says the issue was "not racially motivated."
