FDA approves Rapivab, first IV drug to treat flu infection

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Food and Drug Administration approved the first intravenous drug to battle the flu in adults.

Rapivab, from Biocryst, is designed for patients with uncomplicated flu cases who cannot swallow pills, like Tamiflu, or inhale the drug Relenza.

Rapivab is the first antiviral flu treatment approved by the FDA in 15 years.
