WAYNE, N.J. (WLS) -- A new study shows a dangerous trend among teenagers in that fewer and fewer are using sunscreen.

A study by researchers at William Paterson University found that 56 percent of high school students used sunscreen.

In 2001, that number was about 68 percent.

During that same time, the study found about a one and a half percent increase in cases of melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer.

One of the authors says a change in the mindset that artificially tanned skin is attractive is needed.
