KENT, Wash. -- A 1-year-old girl who was shot in the head in a drive-by shooting outside Seattle has died.
A spokeswoman for Harborview Medical Center says Malijah Grant was brain dead and taken off life support Saturday night.
Police say the 1-year-old was shot in the head Thursday afternoon while sitting in a car seat in the back of a silver Chevrolet Impala at an intersection in Kent, Washington. Her parents were in the front seat when police say a black car pulled alongside, and the driver and a passenger in that vehicle opened fire before driving off.
Malijah's parents broke down at a community tribute to her life, as friends and family gathered to pay their respects, according to KOMO-TV.
"I'm asking the people that done this - come forward." said Frederick Grant, the uncle of Malijah's father. "I don't know how you can sleep knowing that you have taken a baby's life."
Authorities initially described the shooting as a road-rage incident, and have said they don't believe the shooting was random.
