Chicago long has been a pro sports town.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago long has been a pro sports town, with two major league baseball teams, NFL football, NBA basketball and NHL hockey teams long entrenched.

That left either minor league teams or pro teams of more obscure sports to battle for fans in the suburbs. Two of the first were the Kane County Cougars and Chicago Wolves, who started in the early '90s and remain successful today. Trailing them is a long line, mostly of teams that didn't make it.
