CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police are searching for a man accused of grabbing and fondling a child on the city's South Side.

Detectives believe he watched his victim take out the trash and waited until her back was turned before sexually abusing her in the 6400-block of South Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive around 4:17 p.m. Tuesday.

The man grabbed the victim from behind and fondled her, police said. The victim was able to break free, then ran and called for help, police said.

Police believe the man fled northbound on Calumet towards 63rd Street.

Chicago police released surveillance images of a man they say preyed on a child taking out the trash.

Surveillance cameras captured several images of the suspect. He is described as having a dark complexion and was wearing a multi-colored skull cap, black jacket, black pants, black boots and red mittens at the time of the incident, police said.
