CHICAGO (WLS) -- In recognition of International Women's Day, Jackson Park Hospital is holding its first-ever Women's Health Expo.
The free event is open for all women on March 5 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Jackson Park Hospital in Chicago. The hospital has been committed to the South Shore neighborhood for over 100 years. As it stands now, African-American women are four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes, like embolism and hypertension, than any other racial group.
African-American women also have the highest rates of premature births. To save lives, Jackson Park Hospital is opening a new state-of-the-art Women's Health Department.
The CEO of Jackson Park Hospital, William O.P. Dorsey III, M.D., joined ABC 7 live from the Women's Health Expo to discuss ways to keep women healthy and safe.
