Man wounded in drive-by shooting found inside car on Lake Shore Drive

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man wounded in a drive-by shooting was found inside a car on Lake Shore Drive near Navy Pier, police said.

Officers arrived at the scene of a crash in the 500-block of North Lake Shore Drive around 10:30 pm. They found the man inside a dark blue sedan with a gunshot wound to the lower back. He was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition stabilized.

Investigators said someone in a black SUV opened fire on the sedan, striking the victim, who was a passenger in the vehicle. The SUV sped away after the shooting.

Police said a second person, a 25-year-old man, was transported to St. Joseph Hospital after having a "panic attack" at the scene. It is unclear if he is being considered a witness or a suspect.

Area Central police are investigating.
