Spring getaways with Lori Rackl
We asked Chicago Tribune travel editor and friend of the show, Lori Rackl, to come up with some fun places to go for spring.

CHICAGO -- It's spring and time to get away! We asked Chicago Tribune travel editor and friend of the show, Lori Rackl, to come up with some fun places to go for spring.

Here is her list:

Lake Geneva, WI

Lake Geneva is approximately 90 minutes away from Chicago - an easy drive and a beautiful area. It was the most-clicked story that's she's written at the Tribune. The hidden gem is a 23-mile walk around the entire lake which takes you past the beautiful mansions along it.

Louisville, KY

If you want a road trip a little farther away, Louisville is approximately five hours by car. It has a number of places to visit, like Churchhill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby. But it is also adjacent to what's called the "Bourbon Trail" - 95 percent of Bourbon is made right there in Kentucky - and the trail has nine of the distilleries along it. Get a passbook, visit all nine and get a t-shirt!

Panama City Beach, Florida

Think of Florida at Spring Break - and images of young twenty somethings partying away comes to mind, but at Panama City Beach, Fla. - it's a whole new ball game. The city has rebranded itself as a family place, putting heavy restrictions on the partying of old. So what is left is a place where the college crowd DOESN'T go, so it's perfect for a family vacation.
