Domestic Violence Group Launches Be Bold Campaign
In Illinois, 84 people, including 15 children, died from domestic-violence related incidents between July 2013 and June 2014.

Sadly, domestic violence continues to be a major issue across the country. In Illinois, 84 people, including 15 children, died from domestic-violence related incidents between July 2013 and June 2014. Police in the state responded to more than 65,000 domestic violence calls in 2014.

To stop the violence, WINGS is officially launching its Mother's Day "WINGS2Be Bold" campaign on April 8, 2016. For every $50 donation to the campaign, WINGS will match each dollar; thanks to two generous grants. To participate in the campaign, donors can log on to http://www.wingsprogram.com/bebold or through uback, an online giving system available on the App Store or Google Play. Donors should select WINGS Program, Inc. to donate.

WINGS provides emergency shelter and housing for victims, along with counseling and other services. Money is always needed to continue the agency's ability to care for 239 women and children in the Chicago area. WINGS operates two emergency shelters, 31 locations for transitional and permanent housing, and three resale stores, whose profits go directly to support WINGS operations. CEO of WINGS, Rebecca Darr, visited the ABC 7 Studios to talk about the need to protect victims of domestic violence.
