The Chicago Cubs home opener is just hours away and crews spent the weekend working at a frenetic pace to get things ready for both players and fans.

A refurbished Wrigley Field will host the Cubs vs. Cincinnati Reds game at 7:05 p.m. Monday.

"I'm surprised how far it's come in the last week," said fan Kim Lendway. "Honestly, I didn't think they'd be ready. It looks great. The outside looks amazing."

And there is certainly a lot to show, both inside and out.

In addition to the renovated iconic marquee, which was put back up last week after a nearly half year absence, and an exterior facade which is being restored to look the way it did in the 1930s, fans will be treated to improved centerfield bleachers and new restrooms.

"They have got to get ready for that, because last year was really bad," said fan Bruce Lee.

Speaking of restrooms, dozens of porto-lets were unloaded Sunday morning outside of Wrigley. Also visible, the newly installed magnetometers metal detectors, which are part of a league-wide mandate to beef up security. The metal detectors will mean longer lines to get into the park, which will now open 30 minutes earlier than usual.

For Cubs fans who plan to attend Monday's game, it's all worth it.

"I think the team is going to be really good this year," Lee said. "Sharper went down but I think we still got this ... They had some standing room for opening day for like $40, so I bought a couple of them."
