CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police are investigating after someone shot a man in the backside and bullets struck a moving vehicle on Chicago's South Side.

Officers said bullets started flying near an alley on 81st at Cottage Grove Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. The victim ran to a nearby barbershop for help.

"I was coming here to get a haircut for PT. At first I thought I heard gunshots but I brushed it off," said Dartanion, who helped the victim. "A gentleman came in, because a gentleman was going out, he was like 'I got shot, can someone call the ambulance?' I checked him to see where the gunshots was. It was two shots in the butt."

People inside the barbershop called 911.

"We calmed him down, made sure he was in a calm state," Dartanion said.

The victim didn't leave behind any blood. At the scene, investigators set up markers by bullet casings and taped off a small area looking for clues, with little idea of who pulled the trigger and where that shooter took off to.

Investigators canvassed the area looking for surveillance video that may have captured the shooting.

Police said a woman who was inside the car hit by bullets was not injured.

No one is in custody.
