PASADENA, Texas -- A man is facing charges after police say he was driving with his ex-girlfriend in his trunk in Pasadena. Another woman who was in the car with him was also arrested.

Alexander Lee Salas, 19, and Sarah Nicole Cruz, 20, are both charged with aggravated kidnapping. Police said on May 31 at around 2 a.m., they pulled a car over that was being driven by Salas because of expired registration. They said Cruz was in the car with them.

The officer reported hearing banging coming from the trunk during the stop. That's when Salas reportedly sped off and the officer gave chase.

Salas turned down a dead-end street and police say he took off on foot. They said he fell as he was running and police were able to take him into custody. Police also arrested Cruz.

The woman in the trunk was freed. She was not harmed and was not transported to the hospital.

According to police, Salas and the woman in the trunk had previously been in a relationship.
