Shots fired at Chicago police officers in 2 separate shootings

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Shots were fired at Chicago police officers in two separate incidents Saturday morning, police said.

The first shooting occurred in the Little Village neighborhood at about 3 a.m. Chicago police officers responding to a shooting saw a car speeding away in the 2500-block of South Avers, police said.

As police followed the vehicle, someone inside fired at the officers, police said. No officers were injured.

Eventually, the car stopped and two people fled. One was arrested and charges are pending, police said.

The second shooting occurred during a traffic stop in the 2000-block of East 71st Street in the South Shore neighborhood, police said. The police squad car was struck but officers were not injured.

The suspect fled the scene. No one is in custody in connection with the second shooting.
