A 3-year-old boy was seriously injured Monday evening in a hit-and-run in the city?s Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 3-year-old boy was seriously injured Monday evening in a hit-and-run in the city's Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

At about 6:15 p.m., Patrick Zbylut was walking in a crosswalk with his family near West 63rd Street and South Natchez Avenue, police said. The boy sustained a brain trauma and was on a ventilator at Loyola University Medical Center.

"They were walking over to our house so we could go all together trick-or-treating," said Thomas Rykala, the boy's uncle.

The car continued west on 63rd Street from Natchez, then turned onto Harlem Avenue.

This vehicle is wanted in a hit-and-run that seriously injured a 3-year-old boy.
Chicago Police Department

Police canvassed the neighborhood Tuesday night, searching for information about the driver.

The vehicle is described as an older-model, beige or tan 4-door, possibly a Toyota Corolla, police said.
