17-year-old fatally shot near South Chicago

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot in the city's Southeast Side, police said.

Police said the boy was walking down the street when an offender allegedly approached him and fired shots in the 8200-block of South Houston Sunday afternoon.

The victim suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen and was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police have not released any other details but believe the incident is gang-related.
