2 killed, 6 injured in shootings across Chicago

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two people were killed in Chicago, including 16-year-old Darren Foggey. Six other people were wounded, three critically, in shootings on the city's south and west sides.

A man in his 20s was fatally shot in the 11600-block of South Michigan Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood around 3:15 a.m. Thursday.

Police said he was found dead at a Far South Side gas station and had been shot in the head and body several times. No one is in custody.

Darren Foggey, 16, died after a bullet came through a bedroom window and struck him in the neck in the 6700-block of South Artesian Avenue in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said Foggey was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the shooting. A police source said the teen was gang affiliated.

Two teen boys and a 21-year-old man were wounded in the 4200-block of South Princeton Avenue in the Fuller Park neighborhood.

Police said a gunman got out of an SUV and opened fire on the group around 9 p.m. Wednesday. All three victims were taken to local hospitals.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the hand around noon on Wednesday, in the 100-block of West Marquette Road in the Grater Grand Crossing neighborhood. He is listed in good condition at Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Center.

A 17-year-old girl was sitting in a car with her boyfriend in the 1000-block of West Cullerton Street when they said a man walked up and opened fire on their vehicle around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday.

She was struck in the head, police said, but is listed in stable condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.

A 25-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint in the 6200-block of South St. Lawrence Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday. The armed robber shot him in the foot and fled.

A relative drove him to Roseland Community Hospital. He was later transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
