2 killed in head-on vehicle crash in Darien

DARIEN, Ill (WLS) -- Two people were killed Friday in a head-on crash in west suburban Darien, officials said.

Mary A. Dziekan, 64, of Downers Grove, and Mark Maran Jr., 32, of Darien, were killed in the crash.

At about 10:30 a.m., both were driving separate vehicles in the 700-block of Plainfield Road when the crash occurred. One vehicle was headed westbound, the other eastbound. Both victims were extricated from their vehicles and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

No passengers were in either vehicles.
