NORTHBROOK, Ill. (WLS) -- A puppy that was stolen from an animal shelter in north suburban Northbrook has been found safe, the shelter said Sunday.

Harmonee, a 10-week-old terrier mix, was taken during adoption hours Thursday from the Heartland Animal Shelter.

On Sunday, the shelter said that Harmonee was abandoned at the animal hospital next door and picked up by the shelter. Harmonee was shaken up but in good condition.

Harmonee has already been adopted and has a family waiting to take her home after her health issues are treated.

"An anonymous caller told us they saw a crate inside the fence at Preiser Animal Shelter, next door. A staff member and volunteer went to check, and found Harmonee in the crate," said Stephanie Muller, shelter manager. "We checked her out and she seems to be healthy and happy. She will be leaving for her adoptive home soon.'

Heartland volunteers Sandy Brandon, Northbrook; Tom Bohn, Glenview and staff member Meg Flannery, Glenview, welcome Harmonee back to Heartland Animal Shelter.
