4 Star Chicagoan: Keya Trammell
Homewood singer and songwriter Keya Trammell was diagnosed with alopecia at 2 years old.

Homewood singer and songwriter Keya Trammell was diagnosed with alopecia at 2 years old. Alopecia is an auto immune disease that affects white blood cells and keeps hair follicles from growing.

While performing an inspirational song of acceptance at an annual community festival in Kankakee last month, Keya was inspired to say a few encouraging words to the audience. She noticed a young girl wearing a cap and wondered if she had cancer or the same disorder. By the end of the song, 4-year-old Zion had taken her cap off and was also bald. Keya met Zion after the show and discovered they share the same alopecia disease.

A photo of their emotional meeting was taken and it earned over 15,000 likes on Instagram.

This week's 4 Star Chicagoan, Keya Trammell, stopped by to talk about the viral photo, bring awareness to alopecia, and to perform the inspirational song she sang that day called "Next to Blow."

Keya Trammell performs "Next to Blow" on Windy City Live.
