3 injured in snowmobiling crash in Antioch

ANTIOCH, Ill. (WLS) -- Three people were injured when their snowmobiles collided Thursday afternoon on Lake Marie in north suburban Antioch, officials said.

Five people, including some children, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, said Antioch Deputy Chief Chris Leinhardt said.

Some of the injuries included broken bones.

Airboats were initially deployed to the scene, however the snowmobilers were already were on the shore when fire officials arrived. Other snowmobilers had brought them to shore.

The snowmobiles never broke through the ice.
