AURORA, Ill. (WLS) -- Aurora police have charged four people in connection with a shooting that critically injured a 43-year-old woman, officials said.

Arturo Trejo, 20, and Ajaie Martin, 32, face felony charges that include two counts of attempted murder. Alexander Turner, 21, faces felony charges that include unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Erika Benavides, 20, faces a non-felony charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Police responded to a call in the 200-block of North Fourth Street at 3:24 a.m. Friday and found the victim in a first floor bathroom with a gunshot wound to her neck, police said.

Police investigated the scene, learning that two male subjects - who police believe were Trejo and Martin - were allegedly seen running south from the area towards a residence in the same block after the shots were fired, officials said. Police obtained a search warrant for the home, which they executed around 11:40 a.m. Friday. Prior to the search, Trejo allegedly jumped from a second floor window but was taken into custody, police said.

Police believe the incident was gang-related.
