CHICAGO (WLS) -- Park district officials released details Thursday night about a plan to expand and rename Buckthorn Park on Chicago's South Side.

The $1.2 million renovation will rename the park in the 4300- block of Calumet Avenue after Hadiya Pendleton, the King College Prep student gunned down last year.

Pendleton was fatally shot in Harsh Park, a few blocks away from the expansion site.
